Ryan Reynold’s Firing All Male Writers is not him “Selling Out”

Many have begun decrying Ryan Reynolds as a sellout with the recent revelation that Deadpool 1 and 2’s male writers had been let go in order to fulfill a diversity quota. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who wrote Deadpool 1, 2, and both Zombieland movies, will not be returning to write Deadpool 3.
Comic Book News reports in their place two relative nobodies Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin will now lead the project after Ryan Reynold’s caved to Kevin Feige’s demands for diversity hiring.

The pair is most commonly known for their work on Bob’s Burgers, where they are involved in every step of production. Hardly a meritocratic hire to put them in charge of the billion-dollar Deadpool franchise, but hiring good female talent consists in spending a lot of money. Something you’ll notice those interested in being woke have little of or no interest in doing so.

As Comic Book News highlights, Youtuber Grace Randolph explains in her coverage, the decision came down from Feige. Who has been pushing for more diversity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reynold’s who maintains directorial control, merely capitulated to his demands.

“Another constant over at Disney is Feige likes to have control over his own empire. So what do you know! Suddenly, Zombieland 1 and 2 writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool 1 and 2, quite successfully, are out in favor or Bob’s Burgers writers, the Molyneux sisters. Who?! well, the Molyneux sisters are actually deeply involved in Bob’s Burgers from across the board, they are not just members of the writing team. And that is of course a Fox property as is the Molyneux sisters other upcoming show, also animated, The Great North. So that is a nice bit of synergy right there. They also fit with Feige’s new efforts to diversify the MCU, especially behind the camera.”

Why then does this mean Ryan Reynolds hasn’t sold out? Very simple, in order to sell out, you have to not being on the opposing side. Reynolds has a long and documented history of being woke that conservatives and the anti-political punditry have chosen to gloss over.

In Deadpool 2 Reynolds kills a baby Adolf Hitler because Hitler is the evilest person in existence. Despite the simple act of pointing out the post-war genocide of the German people eclipses Hitler’s worse estimates, Stalin invented the modern-day concentration camp and systematically exterminated those he conquered, and Mao’s regime is one of the bloodiest since the reign of Genghis Khan.

In 2017 Reynolds declared his support for the feminist movement and denounced people using the word “bossy.” In a Glamour interview, his wife discussed how her husband pushes for gender equality by misgendering caterpillars. No, that’s not a Babylon Bee story, though given the pure insanity of it, you’d think it was.

2016 for gender equality, Reynolds is depicted getting pegged in Deadpool. A movie he used as a vehicle to promote feminism and gender equality. In 2020 Reynolds signaled his support for the Marxist movement Black Lives Matter and donated $200,000 to the lobbyist group NAACP.

To Reynold’s credit, he does back up what he says with his own money, even if it will never accomplish his espoused goals. Also, to his credit, he never pretended not to be woke or a good ally. He and his family have proclaimed themselves proudly feminist, proudly leftist, and proudly woke for some time. It isn’t his fault centralists and conservatives chose to ignore repeatedly what he was saying.
