Spike Chunsoft Announces 999 To Be Ported To Other Platforms With Japanese Voice Acting

Folks who enjoyed 999 on the DS will soon be able to play Spike Chunsoft and Aksys Games’ adventure novel on “other platforms.” This information comes from Zero Escape series director Kotaro Uchikoshi, who announced this during the annual Anime Expo that the game will soon be available for more platforms. 999: Nine Persons, Nine Hours, Nine Doors is already out for the Nintendo DS.

Something that I’m sure a lot of JRPG fans don’t care for too much is bad Engrish… and yes, I mean bad “Engrish.” Well, folks won’t have to worry about any bad acting or cringe worthy dialog from characters because Uchikoshi announced that the game will sport brand new acting that includes Japanese voice acting.

It’s worth noting that he didn’t spill the beans on which platforms the game will be heading to, but he did drop some hints like “Vital” and “STEAMship,” which a lot of fans speculate that the ports are for PC via Steam and the PS Vita. You can check out the tweets below.

Although the above could be a tease to mess with fans, we do know that the game will sport actual Japanese voice acting in-game thanks to a video tweet by RPG Site showing Santa’s voice actor.

Furthermore, I’m not sure if the devs will release the game on other platforms aside the PC and PS Vita, or if the devs are sticking to their tease? One thing that makes it obvious it’s coming to PC is seeing how the team teased Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc heading to Steam (which is now available on Steam) by saying:

“Attention class. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is about to get steamy!”

The above information obviously coincides with Uchikoshi announcement during this year’s Anime Expo that the game will be heading to “other platforms” soon.

For those that can’t wait and wish to play the game now, although its been out since December 10th, 2009, you can check out the game’s official site pertaining to the DS version to see if the adventure novel is something worth playing.
