FIFA 19 and Fortnite Are The Top Digital Earners Of 2019, According To Report

FIFA 19 and Fortnite are the top normie games that will move a lot of units, and it looks like for the year 2019, the two games were the top digital earners according to a new report. Yes, out of all the games that dropped in 2019 (and beforehand), the two most controversial titles seem to be heavy money-makers as per Superdata.

Of course, everything on the following list should come in as no surprise given that most of the games are ones that feature heavy amounts of microtransactions or some sort of live-service mechanic to nickel and dime people to increase profits.

I should note that the information that sits below comes from both gamingbolt.com and superdataresearch.com, meaning that the top free-to-play games are a collection on the latter site’s end in that it focuses on the “top trends” and “health of digital games” in the media market from 2019 into 2020:

Free-To-Play Games:

  • Fortnite
  • Dungeon Fighter Online
  • Honor of Kings
  • League of Legends
  • Candy Crush Saga
  • Pokémon Go
  • Crossfire
  • Fate/Grand Order
  • Game for Peace
  • Last Shelter: Survival

The top paid games aren’t too far behind the atrocious level of the free-to-play games. As always, if Fortnite or GTA V isn’t at that top, then you can expect games like FIFA 19 or FIFA 20 to be the crown victor.

In this case, the former (FIFA 19) reigns supreme according to the websites listed above, in that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and GTA V have nothing on FIFA 19:

Paid Games:

  • FIFA 19
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • GTA V
  • FIFA 20
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  • NBA 2K19
  • The Division 2
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Borderlands 3
  • The Sims 4

I’m sure this year’s top games will be the same as last year’s list in that Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 2020 will see Fortnite, FIFA, and GTA V in the top five across charts such as the U.S. NPD, UKIE Charts, and EMEAA Charts. Although said games don’t dominate Famitsu, we’ll see if Pokémon Sword and Shield will retain their top spots throughout this year.
