Mafia 4 Would Be A Thrill To Make, Says Hangar 13

When Hangar 13 isn’t trying to be a political activist development team, you can expect the company to be fantasizing over the idea of making the next entry in the ongoing Mafia series of games. Yes, Hangar 13 notes in a recent interview that work on Mafia 4 would be a “thrilling” task.

If you don’t know, way back on October 31st, 2018, an individual close to Take-Two Interactive shared an e-mail from Hangar 13’s Andy Wilson — Vice President of Development — with One Angry Gamer.

The letter was originally sent out on September 10th, 2018, ahead of the Women in Games conference. In the short letter, Wilson discussed the studio’s dedication to getting more women into the games industry and re-organizing the studio culture to be more “diverse.”

Fast forward by two years, and that same diverse team is looking to make the next entry in the Mafia series of games. In other words, after the disaster that was Mafia 3 hit the physical and digital scene, Hangar 13 wants to try its hand at the organized crime world once more.

According to a recent interview that publication outlet segmentnext.com struck up with Hangar 13, we learn that if the upcoming Definitive Edition of the first Mafia game performs well, the next installment in the series will likely hit the market:

“We hope fans enjoy Definitive Edition. If it does well, we may be able to channel our energy towards a new installment. I know our team would be thrilled to make another Mafia game if the opportunity arises. In the meantime, we are working on another project. I can’t tell you anything about it yet, but suffice to say, we’re excited about it.”

In other words, Hangar 13 will make Mafia 4 if Mafia: Definitive Edition does well. In the meantime, the dev team is also working on a new project that is already underway. Sadly, details on this new project were not shared. However, this mysterious project is likely a woke product in the making.

Lastly, Mafia: Definitive Edition will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One next month. The game was originally slated to make its debut on August 28th, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the Definitive Edition will drop on September 25th, 2020.
