State Of Mind Preps For Release And Readies To Explore Transhuman Existentialism

State of Mind

Forget the Jean-Paul Sartre’s philosophy of existentialism, or the moral quandaries of transhumanism proposed by Eidos’ Deus Ex, because Daedalic Entertainment wants to take a very different approach to the subject matter. Prepare to dive into a world where the value of your life is measured by the memories stored on physical media, and the shape of your reality is built around the duality of virtual worlds and a real life governed by corporatocracies. This is the basic premise for the very intriguing looking State of Mind, which is prepping for release on Xbox One, Steam, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in early 2018. Pillars of the Earth Review

I have to admit it, I just didn’t see Pillars of the Earth coming. As far as videogame adaptations go, I keep a pretty open mind, and it certainly isn’t unusual to see big budget videogames launched alongside movies and series like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Pillars of the Earth has never been a Hollywood movie though, and whilst it did once become a BBC series, it wasn’t exactly popular enough to have HBO quaking in their boots. In fact, the most famous interpretation of Pillars of the Earth remains the original one – the 1989 book by Ken Follett, which to this day is still considered a well rated read both in the UK and the USA. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun Review: Chop Shop

Shadow Tactics Review

[Disclosure: A review copy was provided for the contents of this article]

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a tactical, stealth action game that blends the theme and feel of Tenchu with the gameplay of the often forgotten Commando‘s series. Yes, despite its instantly forgettable title, Shadow Tactics is actually much more interesting than you might first have thought. Whilst the isometric view and real time, tactical gameplay feel like throwbacks to a bygone era, they fit beautifully with the setting of the game, which is built upon the classic vision of Feudal Japan, albeit interpreted through a semi cel-shaded art style. Bounty Train Review: Interesting But Aimless

Bounty Train

[Disclosure: A review copy was provided for the contents of this article]

Corbie Games’ Bounty Train is a historical period piece role-playing strategy game where players pick up passengers, fight off bandits and manage resources in between destinations while following a non-linear story about freedom and survival. However, despite the game’s interesting premise, historical narrative and item management aspects, it falls into the pit of being more tedious and repetitive than fun and innervating.
