I like what Extraction is trying to sell: a grizzled mercenary looking for redemption in a crap-hole of a country where no one is the good guy and trust is an ally that doesn’t live an inch beyond where you stand. Based on the trailer it’s still pushing out some of the whole strong-woman vibes that Left-wing agenda pushers are cosigned to propagate throughout media, but it also falls back to an encouraging trope: Only a white man would be selfless enough to travel to a foreign, violent-filled country to save those in dire need against all odds. It might sound cheesy but it was actually a pretty cool film that didn’t pull any punches and certainly managed to find itself among the hall of fame of zombie films. Quite naturally the studios decided to cash in on its popularity and focus on a sequel titled Peninsula, which is set in the Train to Busan universe, and it takes place four years after the events of the original film.
