Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker And Last Jedi Nonsense Further Ruins The Lore

Star Wars Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson recently had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter where he revealed that he wasn’t all that interested in the larger lore and worldbuilding of the Star Wars universe when he made The Last Jedi, which clearly showed. And it created a number of plot holes for the sequel trilogy that Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams attempted to amend, but unsuccessfully so. Well, some new lore relating to Rey’s genealogical connection Emperor Palpatine was revealed, and it certainly won’t make anyone feel better about how badly Disney butchered the once revered space-fantasy franchise. Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker is now an official failure that is questionable whether it will succeed in even breaking Rogue One’s box office by the conclusion of its runtime. As Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker continues to limp toward the one billion dollar mark the beleaguered show has suffered yet another humiliating blow from the leak of Colin Trevorrow’s original Episode 9 script. Poetically named Duel of the Fates, Trevorrow took his movie in a radically new direction than what Disney had previously put to screen. In that his movie, unlike the prior two, not only was a Star Wars movie, but featured actual character development. Especially Rey who was transformed from the Mary Sue who could do it all, into a more compartmentalized role in their group dynamic. It’s no secret Disney needed Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to succeed. After what Rian Johnson and their PR team did to the brand already, suffering under Kennedy’s identity politics the brand has gone from a right to print money to an outright money pit for Disney.  Desperate for the movie to succeed they had it undergo months of re-shoots, spent untold hundreds of millions on its marketing and yet despite box office estimates dropping multiple times the movie has opened to a pitiable $176 million domestically, according to Den of Geek, and outright bombing in China. Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Bombs In China

Rise of Skywalker China Bomb

Disney let Rian Johnson basically back the Star Wars franchise into a corner by killing off key characters in scoff-worthy ways, ending plot threads with more question marks than a Riddler cosplay contest at a Quentin Tarantino Halloween party, and featuring more lore-breaking logic than the Terminator franchise. The movie tanked in China when it first released, and set such a horrible precedent that by the time J.J. Abrams was given control of the third film in the disjointed trilogy the Chinese couldn’t be bothered to fart in an air pocket of a ripped theater chair when Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker released. Abrams followed through with including an LGBT kissing scene in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Continue reading “Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Features Scene With A Lesbian Kiss”
