Eleon Game Studios recently launched Empyrion: Galactic Survival on Steam Early Access. The game features single-player and cooperative gameplay and sees players attempting to survive on a harsh planet where alien creatures and other hostilities will attempt to threaten your survival.
Very similar to titles like Space Engineers and the upcoming No Man’s Sky from Hello Games, Empyrion: Galactic Survival features unrestricted planetary exploration and space travel. After gathering supplies and crafting new equipment, players can build a base, advance their spaceship and travel to distant planets. You can see how the game plays out with the trailer below.
The game’s graphics are very similar to Keen Software House’s space survival title. The polygonal ship designs are very reminiscent of the ones from Space Engineers.
If you can look past the graphics you’ll find that the game shares similarities with other projects like Planetary Explorers and StarMade, to name a few.
The game supports deformable terrain, along with crafting, scavenging and mining for resources. The ability to travel to distant planets and fight alien creatures and continue expanding your dominance throughout the galaxy is a pretty cool feature. But as it stands the end-game content seems rather thin.
If you haven’t already invested a lot of time and energy into Space Engineers or Planet Explorers, this game might be worth checking out if you’re looking for something where crafting, building and exploring with cooperative functions are an essential part of the gameplay for you. Also you’ll be waiting a while for Planet Nomads to launch so if you were interested in a game to bide your time until that game gets off the ground you can check out Empyrion.
For now Eleon Game Studios appear to be updating the game rather frequently and you can get the game for a discounted 10% off for $16.19 right now during the first week of being made available on Steam. You can learn more about Empyrion: Galactic Survival by either checking out the Steam store page or hitting up the game’s official website.
