E3 2016: Two New Videos Surface For The Last Guardian

After going dormant since re-debuting for the PS4 at E3 last year, The Last Guardian has surfaced once more in what looks like an annual tradition to pop up out of the blue to appear at E3 before hibernating in development hell again. Well, two more videos have surfaced for The Last Guardian ahead of its appearance at this year’s upcoming E3 in June.

PSGamer spotted the two new videos, which were recently posted up on IGN’s YouTube page. The first video clocks in at just under four minutes and features a look at how Trico was brought to life through animation, gestures and cinematic interactions between the boy and the environment. You can check it out below.

The second video is a bit of a recap of the gameplay session that IGN managed to get in with The Last Guardian during a closed session. They played the first 45 minutes of the game, explaining that players start the game in a cave with the mythical creature Trico. Players, early on, will feed Trico and then have to remove some spears that were stuck in the beast’s back.

You can check out the video below, where they talk about the quality of the animations, the gameplay and the interaction between the player and the AI. You can check out the video below.

The second video isn’t nearly as impressive as the first video, but it is interesting to learn more about the different levels, their designs and how the core gameplay comes together as a puzzle-platformer.

The game looks pretty good but I don’t see this game selling gang busters, and it seems more like a sleeper hit. Except for the fact that it’s been in development since forever and I have no idea how they plan on making back the budget.

Anyway, expect to see more of The Last Guardian at this year’s E3 convention in Los Angeles, California. I also suspect that maybe we’ll finally get a release date on the game, too.
