Frozenbyte Studios sent out word that their third-person stealth game, Shadwen, is currently available to download for PC and Mac from the Humble Store, GOG.com and Steam, while PlayStation 4 owners can get their hands on the title from the PlayStation Network.
The game sees players taking on the role of the stealthy assassin, Shadwen. She encounters a young girl named Lily and must carry out her assignment while protecting the young girl and getting her to safety. The game sees players juggling Shadwen’s ability to kill indiscriminately with the concept of preventing Lily from seeing Shadwen murder so effortlessly. This means players will have to find a balance in their play-style to keep Lily from being driven mad from the killings, while at the same time finding ways around the guards using traps, the environment and stage hazards.
Frozenbyte gives you an idea of what the game looks like in action with the trailer below.
You can definitely see some influences of Trine within the design of Shadwen, especially with the Thief’s grappling hook making an appearance in a more practical way within their latest game.
It’s not often we get stealth-oriented games, so it’s a nice departure from the typical hack-and-slash medieval titles and the other first-person shooters flooding the market at the moment.
If the game interests you at all, you can pick up a digital copy for only $14.44. The price was “aggressively” reduced thanks to the thousands of downloads of the Shadwen demo that brought the initial launch price down considerably on PC. The regular price for the game will be $16.99 after the promotional period is over.
Shadwen is available right now for PC, Linux (which means SteamOS support) and Mac, along with a digital rendition being available on the PlayStation 4 via the PSN Store. You can grab a copy of the game right now from Steam, the Humble Store, PSN or GOG.com. For more info feel free to visit the official website.
