Layers Of Fear: Inheritance DLC Launches August 2nd
(Last Updated On: July 3, 2016)

Blooper Team’s Layers of Fear took the gaming world by surprise, offering fans of horror, puzzle solving and plot-driven gameplay an opportunity to experience something delightfully frightful earlier this year. Well, the developers want to keep the momentum going and will be launching a new set of DLC starting August 2nd called Inheritance.

The new content switches the perspective of the game, focusing on the Painter’s daughter, the child born from the sullied marriage that drove her parents to madness. The game still takes place in the unsettling mansion, with players being able to witness what the press release is calling the “full scope of the tragedy” that swallowed up the sanity and sanctity of the family.

To give gamers just a wee bit of a taste of what’s to come, a new teaser trailer was released that features just 50 seconds of gameplay. You can check it out below.

While it’s the same house, the DLC touts a brand new experience from the eyes of the daughter. Given all the hallucinations and mind altering illusions that warped and changed the mansion into something surreal and horrific when playing as the Painter, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the mansion looks like from the daughter’s perspective.

The press release still promises a “psychedelic” experience when exploring the house, but they don’t go much further than that. I don’t think “psychedelic” really sums up the eerie and heart-pounding frights that came with the distortions and ghastly depictions of the Painter’s mentally unstable mind.

Nevertheless, you can look to get your hands on the new DLC starting August 2nd, next month, for the PS4, Xbox One and PC for only $4.99.

If you haven’t picked up a copy of the original game for the home consoles or PC, you can grab Layers of Fear from the Steam store before July 4th wraps up for 50% off for only $9.99. You can learn more by hitting up the game’s official website.
