CD Projekt Red Releases GWENT Update 0.8.37

CD Projekt Red has released a new update for their Witcher spinoff game that takes in the card genre and goes by the name GWENT. The card game now sees update 0.8.37 in play, which not only addresses several gameplay issues but also fixes server problems plaguing players. GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is currently available for PC and Xbox One.

If you happen to be a fan of the latest work that comes in by CD Projekt Red, then you’re likely to have come across players exploiting an issue regarding the use of the Mardroeme to get an auto-win after not selecting a target for the Mutagen card. Yes, this proved to be so tumultuous that even the devs at the studio had to try to address this problem as quickly as possible.

You can read the update post that the devs currently have up on their official site for the card game GWENT:

“With update 0.8.37, our main goal was to address a set of important issues that have recently come to light, including the use of Mardroeme to get an auto-win after not choosing a target for the Mutagen card. This was not how we intended for the card to work and was something that required our immediate attention, because of the effect it was having on ranked play (players who abused this exploit have already been banned).”

I’m sure a lot of people on the receiving end of this cheat weren’t too happy, but seeing that it is now addressed, hopefully, folks can go back to enjoying the card game as the devs intended it to be played.

The update post also notes that other issues are now fixed that have been looming around prior to update 0.8.37. This includes server errors caused by beating Morkvarg on two Strength and playing three Re-enforced Ballistas and Redanian Elites.

The fixes listed are said to bring synchronize gameplay to GWENT, but seeing how the update just hit the scene we’ll have to wait and see how the changes settle in with other core meta features and if it stifles significant cheats or problems in future matches.

The Witcher Card Game is currently available for PC and Xbox One, and is said to hit PS4 along with the two mention platforms later on when its official release date arrives.
