Killer Instinct, Kross Up FGC Tournament Starts January 14th

If you can’t get enough of the fighting game community and you really want to try your hand at beating the living daylights out of other competitive fighters in Killer Instinct on the Xbox One, you’ll get a chance to prove your skills in Stream.me’s Kross Up FGC tournament, which gets underway on January 14th.

According to the press release some of the top fighters from the community and the e-sports leagues will be participating in the tournament, including but not limited to players from Circa eSports and FlipSid3 Tactics.

Nicky Lovene, Killer Instinct professional player from Circa eSports, commented about the Stream.me hosted Kross Up tournament, mentioning in the press release…

“The Killer Instinct scene has had most of its success come from the online community due to the game’s wonderful netcode, and with this new tournament series, it will allow even more new opportunities for players to compete for prizes and points,” “This is the kind of support that this community needs, thank you Stream.Me.”

Killer Instinct is a solid game, but it’s been continually put on the back burner in terms of hype and promotion compared to more popular games like Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X. A non-existent modding community and a lack of world building outside of the game itself has lent Killer Instinct to the lower tiers of the fighting game community brackets.

Stream.me is hoping to revitalize the hype surrounding the game and potentially get more people interested in Microsoft’s fighter.

With season 4 for Killer Instinct gearing up to get underway, it’s possible tournaments like this could help bolster the appeal of the game.

The tournament will take place between January 14th and April 2nd, where open registration will lead to single eliminations in the online bracket. There will be eight circuit events taking place each Saturday evening, with the top four finalists eligible for winning cash prizes. The event will roll out over the course of eight weeks and then there will be a double elimination finale for the top eight finalists. The tournament season will then conclude on April 2nd.

You can register for the event right now by visiting the official Kross-Up registration page. If you need a look at how the schedule breaks down, you can check it out below.
