Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove Coming To Nintendo Switch

With Nintendo gearing up to present the live stream event for the Nintendo Switch, indie developers Yacht Club announced that Shovel Knight will be heading to the new console under an alternate name, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The game is currently out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U.

Taking to Yacht Club’s official blog to announce a new name for Shovel Knight, a price increase, and a Switch version, new content is set to tag along with the aforesaid announcements.

As seen in the image the name of the game will change when the Switch version rolls out.

One of the new features include a mode called “Body Swap Mode”. Players will need to complete Shovel Knight’s campaign mode to unlock the special Shovel Knight and Shield Knight feature.

Another feature set to hit the scene is co-op. Something in demand for quite some time now seeing how the devs started the paragraph for co-op with “Finally!! After many requests!” Folks on consoles and PC will soon gain the ability to play with their friends, which said feature is not applicable for those on 3DS and PS Vita.

This now brings us to the devs changing the name of the game and what existing players can expect. Once Shovel Knight becomes Treasure Trove, all owners of Shovel Knight on all platforms will automatically own said game. Players will continue to get each of the planned free campaigns and features via updates, and is said to work exactly like how Shovel Knight was updated to include its first camping addition, Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows.

When the update appears, players also have new options to purchase each campaign as separate, standalone games on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch, which includes:

  • Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope
  • Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows
  • Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment

Later on during 2017 the following will release with names to be decided:

  • Shovel Knight: King Knight’s Campaign
  • Shovel Knight: Battle Mode
