Battalion 1944 To Gain First Gameplay Video Ahead Of Its May Closed-Alpha

Looking to see gameplay footage and play Square Enix and Bulkhead Interactive’s Battalion 1944? If so, the game will gain a new video showing in-game footage next week and will later gain a playable build on March 30th through April 1st, which will be followed by its May Closed-Alpha session. Battalion 1944 is currently set to hit PC, and will later gain console variants later down the line.

After Square Enix attempted to help some indie devs named Reto-Moto with a WW2 title known as Heroes & Generals that fell flat on its face, it seems that they are back at it again, except this time they are now helping Bulkhead Interactive with Battalion 1944 — another indie WW2 project.

Now that the publisher and devs are gearing up to release their first gameplay trailer for folks to ogle, the devs over Battalion 1944 posted up an update post detailing stuff that fans can expect from the upcoming trailer and playable builds on their main site.

Here’s the first part from the update post listed below:

“It’s been a long time since we ran the Kickstarter we’ve shown gameplay, and for very good reason. We’ve been completely and utterly gutting and rebuilding the unreal engine to mimic the gameplay feel of old school shooters and maximising performance to ensure our first ‘pre alpha reveal’ is representative of what our sights are for Battalion 1944.”

The devs really want their supporters/backers to know what they are about to get into before they can help with the Pre-Alpha via the upcoming trailer. This is further elaborated on below:

“This will allow all our backers to see the game before Closed Alpha in May. This should help clear up some misconceptions about what the game is and how we’re going about nailing that classic game feel.”

As of this moment, Bulkhead Interactive posted up the current problems that will be addressed very soon, which consists of third-person animations being in an early state, and the UI still showing signs of not being completed yet. The idea behind this is so that the devs can get feedback so that they can tweak the pre-existing updates set to address said problems.

Speaking of fixing problems, you will be able to attend an event to meet the devs and Square Enix over at Tobacco Dock in London for EGX Rezzed. This will start on March 30th and will end on April 1st, allowing folks to test Battalion 1944 Pre-Alpha locally ahead of its online Pre-Alpha:

“More awesome news is that we’re bringing the Battalion 1944 Pre-Alpha build to the Tobacco Dock in London for EGX Rezzed 30th March -1st April, so that gamers will be able to test Battalion 1944 offline before we jump online for the closed Alpha in May 2017.”

You can learn more regarding this game by heading on over to its main site or the update post, which Battalion 1944 is set to come out later on for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
