Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Trailer Introduces Kurt Russell And Plenty Of Explosions
(Last Updated On: March 3, 2017)

The latest trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 doesn’t worry itself with trying to focus on plot, or story or the motivations of the characters, it’s all about spiffy looking set pieces with plenty of explosions to boot. Oh yeah, and there’s a cameo from Kurt Russell.

It’s weird how Russell seems to be getting more work now than he did when he was in his 40s; he’s popping up in all kinds of stuff. Just wish he was in more movies back in the 1990s, but whatever. He pops up at the end of the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as Star-Lord’s dad. The trailer literally ends right after this moment, giving the audience pause and query as to what comes next. You can check it out below, courtesy of Movieclip Trailers.

The trailer is essentially an introduction to the Guardians, going through the standard heroes who saved the day in the first film, as well as some unlikely allies who seem to be accompanying them on the second journey.

Part of me feels as if the movie might be a bit aimless given that they don’t seem to focus any of the trailer on what the movie is actually about.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Rocket

We get a cool collection of different action sequences, sprinkled in with some light comedy bits, all set to the tune of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”. However, there appears to be more style than substance on display. No main villain is outlined, and for as far as I can tell the rogue group of anti-heroes just seem to be going around combating… something.

Anyway, I’m sure the third trailer will finally give us a reason to care about the adventure other than the comedy and the music. The one-liners are definitely good, though.

You can look for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 to land in a theater near you on May 5th.
