Back in the late 1990’s Shenmue came out in Japan and would later head West. The game used something known as QTE that not many other games offered back then, and they incorporated the function into its story and fighting scenes that fit rather well in the follow-up 2001 title.
After Shenmue 2 the game series went dark, and after many years of silence the title is now coming back to the gaming scene. The latest update regarding Shenmue 3 has come in by Ys Net via an update post on the game’s main site.
The Development Report (as it is titled) offers an apology for the lack of information pertaining to Shenmue 3 and dives into the latest progress of the game that the team is currently cooking up.
You can read what Ys Net posted on the Shenmue blog update page below:
“It has been a long time since our last update, and we are painfully aware you all have been eagerly awaiting the monthly report. All of us here have been so wrapped up in the development process that time seems to have flown by…”
The next segment reads that they will try to update folks monthly on Shenmue 3‘s progress without giving away too much:
“But no excuses! We apologize for the lapse and will do our best to bring you updates every month. It is beholden on us to keep you informed (without giving too much away of course!) and will do so as promised.”
Although I’m not a huge fan of QTE scenes, though that was something that Shenmue was kinda known for, I’m curious how the game will change things up regarding QTE scenes without it feeling like any other game that uses it? Anyways, the new video covers quick scenes of QTE tests, a dialogue meeting, quests and more.
Although the video above doesn’t show anything jaw dropping, it seems that a lot of fans are just happy that progress is being made on the title and that information regarding Shenmue 3 will drop every month — like the video above.
Shenmue 3 is currently slated for PC and PS4. If you want the full rundown on the second Development Report you can hit up shenmue.link.
