505 Games and Keen Games dropped some news that a new free playable trial of Portal Knights is currently available for home console gamers putting in game time on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
According to the press release the trial version of Portal Knights is currently available in U.S,. territories as well as the Europe, Middle East and African regions.
As mentioned, the trial is completely free and you can get your digital copy right now from the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store.
The trial allows you to create your character, no matter your race or gender, and they don’t discriminate like in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Additionally, you’ll be able to explore the trial island and level up your hero as well as acquire a pet.
Multiplayer is also included, but only local multiplayer. You can join up with a buddy and play two-player split-screen and journey around the isles together while you explore, hunt, gather and craft items for your characters.
The game’s full crafting, resource-gathering, weapon and armor system is included in the trial, but obviously not all of the rare items and gear can be acquired in the trial version of the game. You can build up your own house, grow some crops and even explore a few dungeons.
The trial is setup to be playable ahead of the full release of Portal Knights for the Xbox One and PS4 starting on May 19th in the EMEA territories and May 23rd in the U.S. Simultaneously, PC gamers will be able to get their hands on the full 1.0 version when Portal Knights graduates from Early Access. The game entered into the development phase on Steam back in the middle of February of 2016 last year, so it took them just over a year to wrap up development and get it clean and pristine for home consoles and PC.
