Prey Demo To Go Live On April 27th For Xbox One And PS4
(Last Updated On: April 12, 2017)

Looking to play Prey without spending money on it to see how the game fares? Well, if you do, there’s good news in that Bethesda and Arkane Studios will be releasing a playable demo that will let folks around and about explore a snippet of what Prey has to offer.

But there’s a catch, the demo will only be for Xbox One and PS4. It doesn’t really make sense why the demo won’t be for PC seeing that Bethesda released both Doom’s demo and deathmatch beta via Steam for PC player to partake in well before the game released for the public to consume.

In addition to the above, this situation has me a bit worried in that Arkane Studios could have pulled another Dishonored 2 conundrum insofar that the PC port runs like crap on all kinds of PC rigs, which would be terrible for everyone involved. Hopefully that’s not the case, but if you are on PC you won’t be able to play the game early like those who are on Xbox One and PS4.

Now that that is out of the way, the official trailer showing the demo sits below. The near one minute long video trailer runs through quick scenes showing Prey, which comes in by Bethesda Softworks‘ channel.

If you want more information on Prey and what the demo will have you doing, the official Bethesda website has the description for the aforesaid below:

“Available April 27 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Prey Demo: Opening Hour puts you in the role of Morgan Yu at the very start of the game. Your first day on the job quickly takes a dark turn, with aliens hunting down any surviving crewmembers, including you. Should the Typhon reach Earth, life as you know it will end. So slip into your TranStar uniform and download the demo in order to stop the alien invasion and save humanity.”

If Prey seems interesting to you, the game will release across PC, Xbox One and PS4 on May 5th. The demo is set to release on April 27th and will be for Xbox One and PS4.

uh oh, they could have at least put a later date for a PC demo, not doing it is just going to give ppl the wrong idea (or maybe the right one)

  • MusouTensei

Sure I give it a try then, I don’t expect much though.

PC worries aside, you gotta give ’em credit for having the balls to do a demo in this day and age lol. Seriously though, I miss getting new demo discs with my old game magazine subscriptions…

    • Literally that was the only reason to be subscribed to OXM.

Just smallish balls, bigger balls would release it for PC too, specially after the dishonored 2 pc demo served more to keep ppl away from the game than get them to buy it

The lack of a PC demo makes me think its going to be a crappy port.

Prey is really an unknown commodity and has been stuck in development hell for too long to be trusted on any platform, on PC even more so. I’m somewhat curious and also have a PS4, so I’ll test it there to see if it’s anything more than the aimless, generic FPS it’ll likely end up being.

Pre order this if you thought Homefront Revolution was a solid AAA experience and you hate yourself.
