In the latest 258 update for ARK: Survival Evolved, Studio Wildcard added in a bunch of new stuff, including new vehicles, new weapons and new dinosaurs. One of the new vehicles that made the cut is a motorboat… yes, an actual, powered, motorboat. Well, for those of you who want to get your hands on one, this simple guide will teach you how to build a motorboat in ARK: Survival Evolved.
Before you get started there are a couple of things you’re going to need in order to build the boat. The item is very resource intensive, so make sure you have all of the following items stashed away or in your inventory before you proceed:
- Wood: 250
- Metal Ingot: 1200
- Hide: 200
- Fiber: 180
- Obsidian: 150
- Polymer: 400
- Black Pearl: 60
Additionally, you’ll need at least 45 Engram Points available in order to construct the motorboat, and you can only craft the boat at a fabricator. You’ll also need a metal foundation, wooden raft and an electrical generator already pre-built before you can craft the motorboat.
If you need help actually crafting it, YouTuber Mitt Gaming has a quick video just under two minutes explaining what you’ll need and how to craft it quickly. Check it out below.
As mentioned in the video, you’ll need to be at least level 57 or higher in order to unlock the motorboat blueprint.
You’ll also have to have already built a wooden raft, electrical generator and a metal foundation.
Once you have the necessary items to craft the motorboat, you’ll then need to build it at a fabricator and then place it into your hotbar once it’s done. Head to the water and spawn the motorboat into the water.
Before you can actually drive the motorboat you will need a full canister of gasoline. Open the inventory of the motorboat and take the gasoline can from your inventory and place it into the inventory of the boat.
Once you turn on the boat you’ll be able to drive the boat around. You can also drive in reverse, and build up to eight wall units high worth of structure for those of you who want to take your house with you while you drive on the water.
