A psychological Otome visual novel called Silent Voices is currently seeking funds over on Kickstarter to finalize development and go into full production. The visual novel is being worked on by Tamago Buns, and it takes a slightly different approach to the genre by offering gamers two different stories from the perspective of the two main countries locked in an age-old war.
The story centers around two countries that are on the bring of a war of annihilation. The countries are Citelle and Martasco. Citelle is an industrial country while Martasco is a militaristic country. Both have been going at it for centuries until a new project called HASBER was created as a way to genetically alter the physical traits of people as a way to govern and control the populace.
Players will be able to take on the roles of two characters, one for each side of the warring states. In addition to this, both protagonists will interact with various characters, with two different formats designed to appeal to visual novel enthusiasts.
The Otome will see a choice-heavy story that unfolds on the Citelle side, while a more kinetic (or linear) narrative plays out on the side of Martasco. For those playing through the Citelle side, there will be five different love interests to pursue, ranging from a variety of different characters. On the Martasco side there will also be characters that the protagonist interacts with as well. You can get an idea of what the art design and story is like with the opening video below.
Silent Voices will feature anywhere between 200,000 and 300,000 words, with more than 10 different endings, 30 CG images and it will contain its own original soundtrack.
Tamago Buns has plans on releasing the game for free if they meet their Kickstarter goal of $5,200 over the course of the next 20 days. They’ve already managed to secure $2,700 so they’re well on their way past the halfway point.
Additionally they’re also seeking votes to have the game released on the Steam store. So if you feel this is something worth adding to your library, you can upvote the title over on the Steam Greenlight page.
