Open Discussion: July 30th, 2017
(Last Updated On: July 30, 2017)

The latest Open Discussion has arrived. Each weekend OAG holds an Open Discussion for you to participant in that discovers a wide variety of topics. If you happen to be into movies, conventions, TV shows and, of course, video games, the Open Discussion series covers all of the above and much more.

Every Sunday comes a new Open Discussion, and each time one entry pops up it means that whatever is on your mind can be displayed for the public to see; whether it be related to videos games or other mediums. furthermore, if you happen to stray off topic and wish to bring something unrelated to the table you are more than welcome to do so.

Keeping the consistency going like every post on this site, any comment will be approved and will not face any form of censorship. If WordPress or Disqus holds your comment captive or censors it, shoot us a message and we will restore your comment.

As for this week’s Open Discussion topic it revolves around video games, but more importantly about exciting video games. In other words, what videos games are out there that have your attention that you either want to play or can’t wait for to get out of development?

The much anticipated game(s) can be old or new, as of a matter of fact, the title can be a game that has been out for a long time and you just never got around to playing it or it can be a brand new title that is facing some polishing while in development as we speak.

Remember, you don’t have to take part in the Open Discussion topic at hand, but if you want to feel free to write down your thoughts on what game or titles that it is you wish to play at this very moment or in the near future.

  • I have to wait until next year for it to release, but I’m sure the wait will be worth it. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is taking us back to Strangereal, and I’ll spend all this time until its release preparing myself. Pilots, we’re coming home. At long last, we’re coming home. So strap in and prepare for takeoff, next stop is Oured.

So I recently went back to playing Payday 2, having dropped it back on October 15th, 2015, because of the “Black Market Update” that added those stupid gun skin micro-transactions. Thankfully, they’ve since removed the micro-transactions, but not the “safes” that contain the skins.

Oh, and silencer skills are completely broken overpowered now. Stick a “The Bigger The Better Suppressor” on a well-modified “UAR Rifle”(basically a Steyr AUG A2) and it becomes pinpoint accurate with very low recoil and high damage. It’s honestly pretty nuts.

The “SpecOps SMG”(MP7A2) that I run as my secondary when I’m not bringing the OVE9000 power saw has extremely high accuracy and extremely low recoil as well. Don’t even get me started on pistols fitted with the “Jungle Ninja Suppressor”. The pistols with roughly 90 ammo like the “Interceptor .45″(H&K USP45) or “Crosskill”(modern 1911 derivative from Springfield Armory) can easily hit 80 damage or better with it installed, while being pinpoint accurate with low recoil.

Same here, but had to stop last week due real life happenings. If you see my name in jump in sometime.

      • I’ll admit that I mostly play offline, but, sure. Just keep an eye out for “openroadracer #DumpTheTrump”. I’ll be the one ripping a swath through the MPDC and FBI with my guns, power saw and explosives.

        • ThyPancakeConsumed

Oh i remember you from comments in Distance news feed.

  • Disqusted

Interested in Disaster Report 4, the new Bokunatsu even though it seems to be phone-exclusive, and New Everybody’s Golf. I feel like they will all disappoint me, though. Can’t recall looking forward to anything else. Half-asleep, though.

I feel like I should be making the game I want, instead of waiting for other people to stop sucking shit.

Edit: Oh yeah, also looking forward to Sakuna.

  • RichardGristle

I’m not sure if it’s from age or from just being jaded with the recent gaming industry in general, but I don’t really get excited or hype about too many things anymore until they’ve proven themselves. Games that I am really looking forward to are REmake 2 (is this shit even still happening? Get it together, Capcom) and Evil Within 2. I know the latter seems to be a love it or hate it game, but I was definitely in the love it camp.

Other than that, I’m not following many things too closely since most of what I’m looking forward to isn’t happening until 2018. Cuphead looks pretty cool, I suppose.

  • GodBowser

Yesterday I seen a traitor for new up and coming shows and I noticed something called Trans Kids and it prompted me to look on line to see if Gender Dysphoria can be treated with out resorting to having reassignment and I cam saw a link that might be of interest and it took me to a thread on Susana Place and when I seen the header I thought…

Hey this is the place where Nut Job Wu use to be a mod

Not sure if any posts he made would still be there since he was stripped of moderatorship sanctioned then banned for being an asshole to other members

I seen this video from Midnight’s Edge on Discovery and it helped explain why the aesthetic looks more Abrams then prime and why some are more interested in The Orville

    • VersVlees

The whole aesthetics of the new Star Trek series is so weird, but yeah the video does explain why the new series looks like that. To be honest its kinda half assed lens flare Star Trek because of suits. If you are gonna go lens flare Star Trek go all the way. I would have stomached Star Trek Discovery if they had included the lens flare uniforms.

I mean that Axenar fan film trailer looks more like Star Trek then this new series. (and Orville too)

It is suits versus suits and they are ruining any new Trek. It is a complete mess at this point. I do miss the old Next Generation series were we had different Star Trek shows running simultaneously but all had a common aesthetics.

      • GodBowser

If it did not have all those deltas all over the place it would look like a generic sci-fi show and come to think of it from what I’ve seen so far it looks a lot like Stargate Universe

Wonder if Stargate might have become a major franchise by now if Universe did not happen

        • VersVlees

Man I did not really get into Stargate Universe and I liked Atlantis with all the Spesh Vampires.(fite me)

The whole point of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis that it is a campy science fiction series. (yes it got serious some times)
but damn Stargate Universe was trying too hard and took itself way too seriously. Also this

          • Bitterbear

Star Trek Voyager >>>>> Stargate Atlantis.

    • tajlund

Only thing I would correct you on is that it is Dysphoria not Dysphagia, but that may have been autocorrect. Dysmorphia is also acceptable in certain cases.

Yeah, the new Trek bugs me. It just doesn’t feel or look right for the universe it’s allegedly set in.

      • GodBowser

Thank you pointing it out and I’ve corrected it and I guess there are words that Google Chrome might mistake for a spelling errors

    • Bitterbear

Star Trek Discovery is pretty much a live-action anime. Then Federation folk is dressed in a futuristic anime school uniform. The villains wear dresses In Space. You have the old Asian lady, the idiot captain, the socially inept heroine with a crush on Senpai, the homo guy, the token alien who is always afraid of everything. Look at the Klingon ships, they have Baroque engravings all over it. There’s even a Klingon princess wearing an excessively ornate white gown.

Of course, this being a Western Anime, it’s obvious it stars ugly people.

  • ThyPancakeConsumed

This week was shitty, lets face it.

    • Disqusted

At least we finally saw some action against the huge corruption. Wasn’t as big a leap as I’d hoped, though. Draining the sewer looks like it’s going to take a long time. The longer it takes, the more time they have to sweep everything under the rug.

  • Hawk Hopper

I’m looking forward to Wolfenstein 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Dusk, Ready or Not, and a game like Door Kickers that I can’t remember the name of right now.

I have a ton of games on my Steam and GOG wishlist, but I have no clue when I’ll get to those.

I thought as you grow older, you become more patient. That doesn’t seem to be the case with me. When I was younger, I would read and watch movies until the very end no matter how much they bored me, but now if something doesn’t catch my interest almost immediately, I abandon it.

The alt-right vs. skeptic slap fight is really boring. No lols to be found.

  • Getting very concerned about censorship now.

E-Sports, ESPN, Capcom, Danganronpa, Sargon vs Anita, Valve/Steam, South Korea, Japanese developers working with Treehouse to self-censor games, Marvel and the feminist t-shirt, the Cammy costume at EVO, Australia and New Zealand’s disgraceful ratings boards, etc. etc.

It’s been a pretty s*itty two months or so. And it’s going to get worse. Just what is it going to take for people to properly wake up and do something about this b*llsh*t?

    • tajlund

The more they push the more people wake up. This is why so many “impossible” political candidates are winning. They are pushing people away, the masks are off, people see who they are now.

In the end you’ll have about 30% who are die hard believers in this crap, everyone else will be turned off.

      • In the end you’ll have about 30% who are die hard believers in this crap, everyone else will be turned off.

30% is quite a lot, still far too much.

And also, watch this 30% gain all the influence once again by claiming victimhood and being loud and obnoxious piles of dog feces.

        It’s like a never-ending cycle of retardation.

        • tajlund

It is, everything you stated is far too true and inevitable. It’s happened before and will happen again.

          • Hopefully this time it will be different, because we now have the Internet with a wealth of information for people to search and read up on themselves, and the fact that significant Alternative and Anti-SJW communities, media and networks have been formed.

Back in the past, people were only able to rely on the mainstream media on TV and newspapers for news, so they were fed endless SJW b*lls*it that was biased, one-sided and corrupt.

Therefore if/when Social Justice is finally killed off, hopefully people will be alert to it and be quick to wise-up before these parasites can rise again.

    • durka durka

But they are not here to take away your games……

      • tajlund

Exactly. I posted on here on another topic that they will just keep going. If they succeed in ruining one game, they will just move to the next. Eventually everyone will lose their favorite franchise either do to over SJWing, or the game will be stopped due to loss of money, either way they win.

      • VersVlees

but we are going to change it so everyone can enjoy them. (and with change I mean ruin them because everything is racist, sexist and misogynist and you have to all point it out)

ENJOY your walking simulators about cleaning a rich dude house and lezzie lovers and text adventure games about muh depression.

    • Feli Aslan

You are right, we need someone who is able to stop this retards.

We need the worlds next Adolf Hitler:

    • Disqusted

I will break whatever censorship gets in my way. Rules are aimed at keeping idiots, assholes and little kids in line. I am neither of those, so I don’t need to follow their bullshit rules. As long as I’m not causing anyone trouble, they should leave me the f**k alone.

      • descent3031

Hey, just as a thought on that.

How would you feel about an animated game (or any medium I guess) that openly depicts underage sex? There are no actual kids involved, but the game is basically paedophiliac pornography.

Is that OK? I mean, I sort of technically think that it is, if I’m being true to my mantra of “What consenting adults do is nobody’s business” . But man… I really don’t like it.

        • Disqusted

A while back, there was a pedo guy on the Pizzagate forums who wrote a long post about how some pedos can’t help it, and some vowed to never hurt real kids. So there are apparently people like that.

People like to believe they are in full control of their body, but I think sexual arousal is often heavily influenced by the subconscious. It’s not like people tell themselves, “I want to get turned on by this” and it happens. It’s more like, they realize they’re getting aroused, but they don’t always understand how or why.

I think a lot of people just one day realize they like certain weird fetishes, even if they feel it’s wrong. And some people hate themselves for it. Some people are able to overcome those fetishes, and some can’t.

Personally, I don’t understand people who want to bang babies and stuff like that. But I can understand guys being interested in schoolgirls. I think a lot of guys start to get interested in girls when they’re around that age, but many never actually get to sleep with those girls. So it’s like an itch that never got scratched. Some people grow out of it. I’d imagine many don’t. That’s why school uniform fetishes are so common. Either that, or it’s part of the whole youthful thing. Youth = healthy = better sexual partner for making babies.

My general rule is, as long as it doesn’t mess with other real people, then it’s fine. Of course, that doesn’t apply to people who are looking to take offense and play the victim. They can f**k right off. I guess there needs to be some mutual good faith there. Like, why should I worry about making bad people feel bad, especially if they don’t give a flying f**k about me?

Anyway, I think fiction generally allows people to satisfy their cravings for whatever, without going on a rampage in reality. So I don’t think it’s good to ban that stuff. Much prefer they do it fictionally than in reality. You don’t have to like it. Chances are, they don’t either. Probably.

Oh, I do think we should have some kind of therapy for those people, instead of just threatening to arrest them. I suspect many of them get blackmailed into becoming servants for corrupt assholes. I hear that people in politics LOVE blackmail.

      • While it’s good to hear you say that, I assume it’s only because you’re in a position to be able to tell SJWs to f*ck off though.

If you were a popular mainstream artist or a 3D graphics designer working for a company that caters to family audiences, I would imagine you won’t be able to tell the whiners to f*ck off. Otherwise, you’ll lose your job. Or if it’s your own company, you’ll lose the sponsorships and investors, and probably attract some protestors outside your company building.

And this would happen even if you produce and share “offensive” material in your own time that’s completely unrelated to the company work. Because you know, SJWs like to ruin people’s lives using whatever reason and methods they can.

  • durka durka

I love cyberpunk i want the new cyberpunk game…and dusk… dusk looks fun.

    The rest can fuck off.

  • LurkerJK

I’m not “hyped” but i am looking forward to Phoenix Point, i just want a more complex xcom than what firaxis is providing

On a sidenote i do hold hope that Mario Rabbids sets the world on fire and pave the way the way for a turn based revolution

    • Mr.Towel

This world needs more Xcom indeed. I love strategy turns, but most of them are eastern games who are too heavy on the grind aspect. Western SRPG are much more balanced on the grind aspect.

  • Mr.Towel

Hype is dead on me. I have been frustrated too many times. It’s rare for me to get hyped about anything for some years now.

Right now the only thing I’m hyped about is the Dragon Ball Fighter Z game. Because I know the developer well, I love their previous games, they’re among my favorite fighting games. I know pretty much what to expect from them and I know I’ll like it, I’m letting myself getting hyped about it.

But aside from DBFZ, there is nothing else. I liked A Way Out on the E3 this year but I simply can’t get hyped by anything from EA. I don’t trust them one bit. So I’m only slightly optimistic about it.

For recent past titles, I got hyped by Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, the remake for Odin Sphere (PS2). I loved the original game, I trust the developer and I was not disappointed. Best remake I’ve played so far.

Other than that, I can’t think of anything recent. My most bitter experience with frustration hype was probably from Assassin’s Creed, the first one. I’m history buff and their marketing was good. The game is a pile of shit though.

    • descent3031

“Hype is dead on me. I have been frustrated too many times. It’s rare for me to get hyped about anything for some years now.”

You know, I take no small amount of smug satisfaction in knowing that from now until the end of time, no further humans will know the experience of opening a Nintendo 64 with a copy of Lylat Wars on Christmas. Short of Roman era lepers, no one has been so blessed.
