An indie game that was once featured on Kickstarter comes Saurian. The dinosaur simulator puts players in the role of a dinosaur based on actual scientific research. Publisher and developer Urvogel Games’ Saurian is out now for PC via Steam Early Access.
Saurian may look like an eyesore to some, however given that it is in the Early Access phase on Steam means that there is room for improvements. Additionally, the game that is in its “work and progress” phase seems to be hitting the right chords in that it sports a “Very Positive” rating and looks to be shaping up to garner more players and positive feedback in its future.
Saurian seems to be that dino-sim that a lot gamers have been pining for. But, of course, it has its issues, as well, which is endemic with most Early Access games. The developers are working to fix these issues as soon as possible.
As for the setting… the game is set in Hell Creek and takes place many years ago when dinosaurs roamed the fields among other wild creatures.
“Saurian is a survival-simulation experience about living the life of a dinosaur. Starting from the egg, you must survive to adulthood amidst the perilous Hell Creek ecosystem of 66 million years ago, meticulously reconstructed with the help of professional paleontologists.”
Players will start from an egg, hatch, and grow to an adult, all while attempting to stay alive in a fight to survive. Staying alive means managing physical needs while avoiding predators and natural hazards in an open world. The landscape is based on up-to-date scientific knowledge of the Hell Creek ecosystem.
Below lies the official Steam release trailer for Saurian.
The following features In Saurian include:
- Survival: Start from an egg, hatch, eat, drink, and grow to an adult while avoiding dangerous situations.
- Open World: Explore the varied environments of Hell Creek with a re-imaging of that time and location.
- AI Ecosystem: The animals around you have the same needs as you do and will interact with you based on them.
- Scientific Accuracy: Every animal and plant has been rigorously researched to be accurate to currently accepted knowledge.
Saurian is available right now for PC via Steam Early Access and runs for $19.99. Additional information on this game can be found over on maxmediacorp.com.
