Dragon Ball FighterZ Endings Explained

Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball FighterZ is one of the biggest releases of 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The fighting game from Arc System Works has a surprisingly lengthy story mode covering three different story arcs. For gamers interested in how they end, there’s a quick explanation for each of the three main endings.

Android Arc Story Ending

The story mode in Dragon Ball FighterZ starts with the Hero Warrior Arc, but it’s the most confusing and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The Enemy Warrior Arc explains more of what’s going on and how things got started, but the real story takes place in the third and final arc known as the Android Arc Story.

Android 21 takes the old memory module of Android 16 and places it in a new model. The two begin working together to find a way to stop the Red Ribbon Army’s clones that have spread throughout the world.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Android 21 and Android 16

To help with the plan, Android 21 captures Android 18 and links her body to a human soul. Due to a wave suppression machine created by Dr. Gero, the evil version residing within Android 21 used the device on all of the world’s strongest fighters to constrain their powers. The evil version of Android 21 also had plans to eat all of the warriors while they were suppressed by the machine. The only way that the fighters can utilize their powers is to link with a soul to overcome the wave suppression.

It’s explained that Android 21 was created from the cells of researchers and brilliant minds from around the world. Her power is limitless due to the fact that she can absorb energy from other creatures. She was designed to be the android that surpassed all androids. However, the Majin cells inside of Android 21 were berserk and untamed, and it caused an evil split within her; with one side becoming violent, along with developing an insatiable urge to feed on humans, clones and other fighters.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Android 21's Plan

The good Android 21 repaired Android 16 in order to develop the linking technology to fix Android 21’s berserker cells. It’s also revealed that before turning into an android, Android 21 was actually a mother and her son was used as a model for Android 16. She hoped to one day restore her family and live in peace.

The plan was to help Android 18 get stronger by developing a stronger link with the human soul, and eventually use the link to fix Android 21’s feeding frenzy for good.

It’s revealed that the evil version of Android 21 revived all of the main Dragon Ball Z villains, but her sane self had no memories of it.

Android 16 made a promise to stop Android 21 if her hunger got out of control or if her evil self took full control. He sacrifices himself to prevent Android 21 from succumbing to her urges.

After having an epiphany from Android 16’s death, the evil side of Android 21 separates from body, creating Evil Android 21 and Waifu Android 21.

The Evil 21 goes on a feeding frenzy and starts turning people into tasty pastries.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Evil Android 21

After the Evil Android 21 goes on her rampage, the Z Fighters end up joining up with the Waifu version of Android 21, along with Android 17 and Android 18; they go around defeating the clones in order to lessen the Evil Android’s accessibility to feed on clones and grow any stronger.

To avoid cracking Earth, Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters and Androids lure Evil Android 21 to Supreme Kai’s planet.

After a vicious battle, the Z Fighters are unable to defeat Evil Android 21. Goku, however, manages to make a Spirit Bomb but Evil Android 21 manages to hold off the attack.

However, Waifu Android 21 sacrifices herself to stop Evil Android 21 and both of them get evaporated by the Spirit Bomb.

Before the credits roll, Bulma tells Goku to return the soul inside Android 18 to its body back on Earth, and Goku obliges while also hoping to one day fight the human soul to see who is the strongest.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Frieza Controlled By A Soul

Enemy Arc Story Ending

The story picks up from when Evil Android 21 and Android 16 used the Dragon Balls to wish back all of the past villains from Dragon Ball Z.

The story still revolves around Dr. Gero’s clones attacking Earth and Android 16 and Android 21 attempting to link the souls together to help Android 21.

Initially, Android 16 intended to have the human soul linked to Goku but it ended up in Frieza instead. Frieza decides to use the soul to get stronger, since without it he’s powerless. He manages to recruit Nappa, the Ginyu Force, and Cell.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Cell Meets Frieza

Cell has a soul inside of him as well, but it’s a pre-programmed artificial soul that he overpowers. However, Cell’s pre-programmed soul is weaker than the human soul inhabiting Frieza.

Android 16 and Android 18 work for Android 21… and it’s revealed that she revived all the villains and gave them artificial souls in order to help make them stronger so she can… eat them.

During the exchange, Android 18 is defeated and Android 21 makes an escape after Goku and Krillin come to the rescue of Android 18. Before Cell, the Ginyu Force and Frieza can finish off Goku and Krillin, the soul in Frieza’s body takes over and stops him from killing them.

Goku and Krillin team up with Frieza and Cell, and in exchange for not killing them, Goku promises that Bulma will help restore both Frieza and Cell’s true power.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Bulma Threatens Cell

They Z Fighters end up allying with Frieza and Cell to fight the clones and stop Android 21.

It turns out, however, that Yamcha was so weak that his power wasn’t capped by the suppression waves like the others.

As Frieza and the others continue to grow stronger, Android 21 sends Android 16 to destroy Cell and Frieza. However, Android 16 fails and Android 21 comes and destroys him.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Majin Android 21

Frieza and the rest of the Z Fighters manage to recruit an extremely reluctant Vegeta, who makes it known he doesn’t want to team with Frieza. They also recruit Goten and Trunks.

It turns out that Android 21 becoming anxious with Frieza was because Android 21 was eating the clones to grow stronger, and Frieza and the Frieza Force have been destroying the clones.

After wiping out all the clones, Cell, the Frieza Force and the Z Fighters travel to the fire mountain to face off against Android 21.

With the help of Bulma’s neutralization machine, the villains and heroes work together using the link to deal one final blow to defeat Android 21.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Android 21 Defeated

After defeating the Androids, the villains turn on the heroes and the Enemy Warrior Arc ends with the heroes and villains facing off in a final battle, while Frieza promises to kill them all.

Dragon Ball FighterZ - Goku Saves Vegeta

Hero Warrior Arc Ending

For the Hero Warrior Arc, the soul makes its way into Goku, and is tracked down by Android 16. After some confusion and a show of interest by Whis and Beerus, Bulma helps Goku and the soul track down the other Z Fighters, including Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chiatsu, Goten and Trunks, Gohan, and Vegeta.

The group end up growing strong using the soul link while Android 21 ends up transforming into Majin 21. After transforming, she begins waiting for the fighters to get stronger and then consuming them by turning them into Candy. She hunts down Cell and turns him into candy, eating him after consuming Nappa.

Android 21 then consumes the Ginyu Force before eating Frieza.

The Z Fighters join together and lure Android 21 to Supreme Kai’s place to have one final battle while Whis and Beerus observe the fight. The Z Fighters eventually defeat Android 21 while Whis and Beerus rush off to eat whatever food Bulma will cook up.
