Bandai Namco happens to be a publisher and developer over a lot of well known games, and the company has disclosed that it will be creating new Intellectual Properties (IPs) in the future. Bandai Namco is also rumored to be working on Metroid Prime 4.
Notice: The information about Bandai Namco working on Metroid Prime 4 should be handled as a rumor. Another publication site claims “multiple sources” have confirmed it to be true that Bandai Namco is working on Metroid Prime 4, but the company hasn’t commented on that yet.
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore is said to be the lead studio on the game in collaboration with Nintendo. If you don’t know, Bandai Namco Studios Singapore contains former LucasArts Singapore staff who worked on the cancelled Star Wars 1313 project.
Metroid Prime 4 was teased and announced during Nintendo’s E3 2017 broadcast. Although Nintendo declined to tell who or what studio is behind Metroid Prime 4, the last part of the rumor by EuroGamer reads that it will be that of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore.
Looking over to factual information, Bandai Namco announced a new mid-term business plan through a PDF titled “CHANGE for the NEXT: Empower, Gain Momentum, and Accelerate Evolution“. The PDF with the name of “6089” reads that Bandai Namco will invest in new IPs.
Bandai Namco plans on investing 25 billion yen over the next three years in creating new IPs. In addition to this, Bandai Namco will form a new branch called the “IP Creation Unit”, which will collaborate with other businesses under the company to do the aforesaid.
In other words, we might see new games by Bandai Namco in the near future that could be something expected or totally out of the field. Sadly, we’ll have to wait and see if the rumors are true about Metroid Prime 4 and what new IPs are set to come in the future.
