Hailed as one of America’s fastest growing sports, Crosse Studios and Big Ant Studios have recently announced that professional lacrosse will be making its way back to home consoles this March with Casey Powell Lacross 18.
In the press release the developer and publisher made it known that lacrosse fans will be able to get their hands on the upcoming Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 starting March 13th, 2018 next month.
Big Ant Studios CEO, Ross Symons, explained in the press release that they decided to release another lacrosse game for consoles due to the growing spread of awareness about the sport and the fact that they’re beginning to see an uptick in saturation from a market craving something that isn’t a major league… yet. Symons also noted that with the advent of social media it makes the presence of lacrosse that much more enticing, and they’re using this opportunity to build up and expand on this year’s outing with more features and better optimization…
“Lacrosse has been one of America’s fastest growing sports for the last decade, and now that matches are being streamed live on Twitter and other platforms, we’re seeing interest in this great sport grow worldwide,”
“We were proud with what we did with the original Casey Powell Lacrosse, and the team have loved jumping back into the sport, building on the feedback from fans of the original, and enhancing the experience in every way for this new release.”
Crosse Studios decided to really pay homage to the nuances of the sport by improving the way field pace is moderated and how the balance between checks and defensive plays are implemented. They’ve focused on stick maneuverability, along with making sure that there are enhanced shot selection options when it comes to attempting to score, and manual substitutions when you need to get a fatigued player off the field and a fresh man on the scene.
There have also been enhancements to the stick and body check balance, so that it better reflects a more realistic take on the actual sport, and gives players more control over how the body checks are executed.
Unfortunately a gameplay trailer did not accompany the news, but expect a trailer to drop well before the game releases in mid-March.
They also didn’t discuss much about offline and online modes, but I presume that’ll arrive with the gameplay features trailer.
You can look for Case Powell Lacrosse 18 to arrive as a digital download for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting March 13th.
