SIE and Santa Monica Studios are set to release the new iteration of God of War on April 20th, which will be exclusive to PS4. Gamers thirsty to see what the next installment has in store will be able to watch “new” gameplay footage and combat.
God of War takes the story and adventure away from Greek mythology and points it in the direction of Norse mythology; and although a lot of story elements are still a mystery surrounding the game in question, it is known that this God of War takes place many years after the events of God of War 3.
While fans wait to find out more about the story of God of War 2018, a new video has emerged to show off some of the things that gamers will be able to do as Kratos.
You can check out nine minutes of gameplay right here thanks to YouTuber The Gameverse.
The above gameplay footage depicts a lot of killing done by Kratos. Players will be able to pull off every move and do everything that was shown in the video above. Moreover, the video also offers a look at Atreus (Kratos’ son) and how he can help out during battles.
In addition to the above, players will be able to command Atreus to use his bow and arrow during a fight. This action can be used during boss battles and against common enemies.
Looking past combat and commands, the video also covers upgrades and how Kratos will be able to use these upgrade, like a Frozen Flame, to enhance something that’s in possession.
The shop scene also showcases how new weapons and armor can be crafted depending on what was gathered during and after a fight.
Lastly, XP and rare items can be used to upgrade abilities and weapons to better Kratos. This system looks like it can be accessed through Brok’s Shop, but it’s unclear if it can be opened whenever.
God of War is set to release for PS4 on April 20th, 2018.
