The game was announced with a teaser trailer that showcases the different off-road disciplines that will make an appearance in the game, including racing rally cars across asphalt, racing modified production cars through the desert, and taking classic four-wheel drive vehicles through the bumps and lumps that come with racing through dirt tracks in the forest.
There will be a variety of modes included in the game, including hill climbs, drift challenges, buggie races, rally runes, rallycross, and more. You’ll have a total of 50 different cars to drive, each with their own stats and handling, along with the ability to collect, upgrade and even customize each vehicle to your liking. The game will also feature both an offline single-player career mode and an online competitive multiplayer mode.
Kylotonn is reviving the series, which originally had its debut on the PSX back in 1997. The last outing was V-Rally 3 for the PlayStation 2 back in 2003. They managed to bring back V-Rally 3’s design director, Alain Jarniou, who is now working on V-Rally 4. Jarniou mentioned in the press release…
“It’s a real privilege for me to once again work on the V-Rally series. It’s an extraordinary title that I have a very special connection to. I had a chance to join the team that created V-Rally to develop V-Rally 3 on the PlayStation 2 as a programmer. I’m very proud to be working on the franchise again 15 years later.”
I’m sure fans of the original series will be pleased to know that they’re bringing back the original talent who worked on the older games to revive the newest entry in the series… 15 years later.
