The action-RPG from Iron Galaxy Games and Modus Games called Extinction, is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game combines elements from Attack on Titan with Shadow of the Colossus, while also including traditional open-world exploration, all to make up a unique experience centered around saving the world using a special sword.

The game is centered around a world that has been steeped in violence and war for ages, only to find itself at the subjugation of a giant orc species known as the Ravenii. Only a select group of warriors known as Sentinels have the ability to stop the giant orcs.

Players take on the role of one of the last Sentinels, who has in his possession a special sword that can cut through the think skin of the Ravenii. However, some of the Ravenii have special armor, and so players will have to upgrade and acquire abilities to counter the magic of the orcs.

You can see what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

As you can see, there’s plenty of destruction abound, which includes physics-based buildings being toppled over and crushed, not unlike Attack on Titan.

Players will have a number of skills and abilities at their disposal in order to defeat the enemies, including grappling enemies in order to gain height advantages to cut and slash the enemies down to size, literally.

There are also smaller enemies that must be dispatched along the way. The art-style also forgoes the typical “realistic” aesthetic and hones in on something a lot more unique and original. Almost like a Western graphical novel come to life. This will definitely give the game long lasting visual appeal for years to come, since most games that attempt to tackle the “realistic” theme look quite dated only years after release.

Extinction is available at retailers and digital distributors for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. For more info you can visit the official website.
