Pantropy To Have Single-Player Option, Graphical Update Underway

Taking a look over to the indie scene, Brain Stone’s Pantropy Kickstarter run has unlocked a new stretch goal that sees a single-player option added to the development design plate. The sci-fi online multiplayer game, Pantropy, is currently in development for PC.

Somewhat new Pantropy gameplay videos sit below for you to look over. The videos showcase in-game footage that focuses mostly on the multiplayer stuff and was posted up via Pantropy’s YouTube channel.

I bet you’re thinking, “this game doesn’t look too hot graphically.” Well, the devs are with you on that one. With extra income coming through Pantropy’s near-ending Kickstarter campaign, the devs have gone back to improve a list of graphical elements.

You can check out a handful of graphical changes made to the game via new screenshots posted over on indiedb.com:

According to the update that Brain Stone posted up, the devs have been busy working on a huge graphics, systems, and texture and environment overhaul.

The game is now using a different terrain shader, while global color and normal maps have been added to the game. Additionally, the desert features small dust winds and mountains that now have geo-texturing.

Brain Stone also revealed changes to fog and atmospheric scattering, opting for it to be more accurate for different biomes and times of the day. Speaking of fog and rendering… water has been updated to improve performance and it now reflects different stages of fog, too.

Clouds now cast shadows and display overcast appropriately. However, the biggest change made to Pantropy, graphically, consists of trees and plants. All trees and plants are now “instanced” and have “3D billboards.” The team was able to step up from 5,000 trees to 75,000, allowing for proper dense forests.

Once featured on Steam Greenlight, Pantropy can be found on playpantropy.com or kickstarter.com. Finally, the game will debut on PC and has no official release date yet.
