2018 Taipei Game Show Stats Show 84% Males Attended, 60% Were Consumers

A data report from the Taiwanese convention, the Taipei Game Show, was released. It covers the statistics for the attendees of the 2018 event, including the Taipei Game Show B2C, B2B, and the Asia Pacific Game Summit.

According to the data report, out of the 3,695 attendees, 84% of them were male while 16% were female.

The largest demographic for the trade show were those aged between 19 and 24 years of age, which made up 37.3% of the visitors demographic. The next in line were those aged between 30 and 39 years of age, for whom they were 24.6% of the demographic.

There’s also a stat for the amount of time visitors spent in the public area. Over 50% of gamers who visited out of the total 3,695, spent three through five hours at the event, nearly an entire working day. Only 14.8% spent more than five hours at the convention, and only 2.5% took in all four days worth of convention activity.

What’s interesting about this particular stat is that more people spent the most time at the convention than people who spent the least amount of time at the convention, which came out to around 2% at less than an hour.

Now the other stat that was also very fascinating was the consumer behavior stat. 60% of those who attended the Taipei Game Show’s B2C Zone spent some kind of money on either peripherals, e-sports gear, gaming hardware, gaming accessories, or games themselves. In fact, the most purchased item was games at 29%. Less than half of all attendees – 38% to be exact – spent nothing on convention gear or gaming paraphernalia.

The event was covered both domestically and internationally, totaling 2,408 pieces of news coverage of which 1,021 pieces of that coverage came from international outlets. The coverage spanned 23 different languages spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
