Maneater Sees You Playing As One Angry Shark In An Open World

Buried during the event that was E3 2018 comes publisher Tripwire Interactive and developer Blindside Interactive’s Maneater. Somehow, the game in question manages to be a first-person action RPG set in an open world with you assuming the role of a mad shark.

No, Maneater does not see you playing as an anthropomorphic shark. Instead, you will swim around underwater like a typical great white shark and crash beaches, different boats or pontoons, and piers.

But, that’s not all, Maneater has you doing more than disrupting the top-of-the-food-chain parties. Other encounters include battles against whales, alligators, and other sharks, too.

“Maneater is a Single-Player Action RPG, set in the unforgiving waters of the Gulf Coast. Fight to survive in the open ocean, with danger lurking at every depth. Your only tools are your wits, your jaws, and an uncanny ability to evolve as you feed. Anything and everything is on the menu… kill or be killed.”

Maneater also has a teaser trailer that attempts to build up fan interest via a 17-second long clip showing blood spreading in an ocean, which is followed by the game’s moniker. Overall, the teaser trailer is more of an announcement trailer than anything.

Contrary to the teaser video above comes the E3 2018 reveal trailer. The video shows quick shark takedowns and what the title has to offer gameplay wise, except for the open world and RPG parts of Maneater.

With that said, you can check out what this angry shark has in store for water lovers and the creatures of the sea thanks to GamersPrey.

According to the game’s IndieDB page, the devs focus is on developing a strictly single-player experience that will supposedly challenge and engage you from start to finish. There will also be a focus on “deep stats and role-playing” coupled with a “gritty, beautifully dark aquatic open world.”

Maneater has no release date, nor other platforms (like PS4 or Xbox One) announced yet. But you can learn more about this game by visiting maneatergame.com or its Steam page.
