4A Games Wants To Use Every Bit Of The Xbox One X Power To Enhance Metro: Exodus

Metro: Exodus may be a title set for 2019, but that doesn’t stop Deep Silver or 4A Games from talking about it to various publication sites. In recent news, publisher Deep Silver and its Head of Global Brand Management, Huw Beynon, was interviewed by the Official Xbox Magazine and he notes that 4A Games feels “the Xbox One X” is going to allow them to do some things that they’re not sure they “would be able to do on other hardware.”

Catching wind from website wccftech.com, we learn that Beynon was featured in the 166 issue of Xbox Magazine (for August 2018). In the interview, he spoke on what 4A Games is currently doing with Exodus and the Xbox One X:

“Generally, 4A’s goal has been to wring every last ounce of whatever juice they can find from the hardware that they’re building for.”

In case you don’t know, Exodus will release during the early part of 2019 across PC and PS4, and, of course, the family of Xbox consoles (including the One X).

Additionally, the devs over the forthcoming FPS game want to focus in on all of the power nestled within the One X and feel that, possibly, no other hardware can offer them what the One X can at this point and time:

“The Xbox One X is going to allow us to do some things that I’m not sure we would be able to do on other hardware. So, for instance, we’re running in native 4K on the Xbox One X, and support HDR as well. I’m confident it’s going to look great on all platforms but I’m highly confident it will look better on the Xbox One X.”

Hopefully, he’s talking about the console market and excluding PC, but anyway, we also learn a little more about levels and how the game will be quite difficult in nature. You can read about how players can use the day and night cycle to their advantage or how close encounters will play out:

“We wanted to create this sense of the passing of time. You’re going to spend several in-game days within any given level. You can use the rest houses to accelerate time and wait until nightfall or daybreak. You might come across an enemy encampment and it’s right in the middle of day and they’ve got sentries out there and they’ll spot you if you try to advance. Or you can wait until nightfall where you can then infiltrate more stealthily. You can change it to suit your tactics.

 

With Metro we’re always trying to keep the player just on the wrong side of comfortable. It’s a game that can and should feel quite stressful at times. You should have these ‘I can’t believe I just survived that’ moments. The relief of having survived a wave of attacks or an onslaught just as you use up your last bullet or filter for the gas mask.”

As of now, we’ll only know how 4A Games executes the title in question when a new gameplay trailer drops or the game itself.

Lastly, Metro: Exodus will release early 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
