Sega Releases New Videos Diving Into Shenmue 1 And 2

Sega has released a couple of new Shenmue 1 and 2 videos, recapping events and telling what fans and newcomers alike can expect from the 18 year old series. Shenmue 1 and 2 will release for PC via Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 21st, 2018.

Sega is currently working on ports of Shenmue 1 and 2, both of which are titles from the Dreamcast era that will soon be available for the first time on PC (along with PS4 and Xbox One). According to Sega, the company boasts an updated user interface, the option of modern or classic controls, Japanese audio available for the first time for global audience, and fully scalable screen resolutions.

Arguably, the following video isn’t all that new, having been released on July 13th, but it does offer viewers a nice look at the 1:1 redesign of Dobuita Street.

In addition to the above, Adam Koralik and Imran Yusuf visit the real-life counterpart of Shenmue’s Dobuita Street, which is available to look over right here:

“Join Adam Koralik and Imran Yusuf as they revisited the real life location of Dobuita Street, the iconic place that was recreated in Shenmue.”

Looking over to a video that’s new, Sega has released a video series titled “What is Shenmue? Episode 1: Story.” The video recaps events from the 2000 and 2001 games and highlights key events of Ryo’s adventure — thanks to his VA Corey Marshall.

“Join Corey Marshall, the voice actor of Ryo Hazuki as he takes you on a journey to discover how the story of Shenmue I & II helped define modern gaming. Shenmue I & II are coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on August 21st.”

Not too long ago, we learned from Steam curator Denuvo Games that Shenmue 1 and 2 “uses Denuvo.” The dedicated curator’s finding is also coupled by Sega’s following statement about frames per second:

“Throughout the engine, game code and scripts there are hard coded assumptions about a fixed 30Hz frame update rate, so the game needs to run at 30Hz.”

Moreover, Shenmue 1 and 2 will launch physically for PS4 and Xbox One and digitally worldwide. The digital edition is currently available to pre-order via the PS Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam with a 10 percent discount off its $29.99 price point.

If you pre-order Shenmue 1 and 2 you will gain access to the physical edition, a double-sided poster featuring characters from the series, and, lastly, a reversible cover of the original artwork.

Shenmue 1 and 2 will release for PC via Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 21st.
