The third episode picks up where the second episode left off, with Louis de Richet finally found his mother in a hidden passageway through the garden located in the middle of Lord Mortimer’s manor. Louis’ mother isn’t quite in a state that he expected her to be in, with a missing arm and a bloodied face, Louis’ mother is in a hysterical state. Armed with a gun and rambling on as if she has amnesia, the episode ended with Louis trying to plead some sense back into his mother.
Unlike some of Telltale’s other games, The Council’s choices really do impact the outcomes of the game, including some characters who live and die based on your decisions. These choices carryover into the next episode that drastically alter what happens thereafter. It also opens up the possibility to replay the entire series over to discover new routes or secrets.
The first episode started with Louis in search of his missing mother. He ends up on the island where Lord Mortimer’s estate is located. He finds out that Mortimer is part of a secret society that pulls the strings from the shadows to completely alter the course of human history. The Illuminati, basically.
