Internet slapfights were taken to the next level when popular YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI decided to take their back and forth video verbal assaults from the confines of petty trash talking as talking heads on a video screen, to through and true boxers lacing up the gloves and stepping into the squared circle to engage in fisticuffs.
Both KSI and Logan Paul are due to actually fight for real in the ring starting August 25th on pay-per view.
And yes, this is like the retarded little brother edition of Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather. Even still, the whole thing is creating tons of content on YouTube and generating millions of views and innumerable amounts of dollars for the promoters, content creators, and the coffer-carriers at YouTube.
All of that being said, the promotional trailer for the upcoming fight is actually really well done. You can tell that people who know their stuff put the trailer together to make it look as hyped as possible. Heck, I could even see this becoming a low-rent direct-to-streaming movie at some point down the line. Anyway, check out the trailer below.
Basically it recounts how KSI and Logan Paul got their internet beef started, and then it moves on to the two signing a contract for the fight. It then proceeds to show the two of them doing the media press tours as they generated hype (and lots of angst) from fans, and then it rounds out showing both of them training for the fight.
Being completely honest here, I have to say that the trailer is put together really well. I don’t like KSI nor do I like Logan Paul, but there was definitely a hype factor to the build-up for the fight that makes it interesting. That’s not to mention that it’s kind of funny that they’re fighting for the internet championship.
Logan Paul obviously has the height, reach, weight, and power advantage, but the clips make KSI look speedy and nimble on his feet. It’s being built as a power versus speed match-up, which is interesting.
The fight is scheduled to take place on August 25th, but the trailer seems to have the numbers mixed up because it says 9:30pm PST, which would make it 12:30am EST. However, the trailer states it’s 12:30pm EST, which would make 9:30am PST.
Anyway, it’s happening on August 25th and tickets for the fight are available over on the Eventim website.
