In recent news, a new company has been announced that goes by the name of Too Kyo Games. The company is led by Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka and Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi. So far, four projects have been revealed by Too Kyo Games.
According to publication site famitsu.com, we learn that composer Masafumi Takada, illustrator Shimadoriru, scenario writer Takumi Nakazawa, and novelist Youichirou Koizumi will join both Kodaka and Uchikoshi and Too Kyo Games.
The website also makes mention that the goal of this company is to offer something “brand new.” Too Kyo Games strives to make a new IP and create indie games by themselves. This new company enables the aforesaid developers to “move freely towards their goal.”
Project #1 will be a playable video game that consists of Kodaka and Uchikoshi’s work — all creators of Too Kyo Games will help out too. Project #1’s genre has not been revealed yet.
Project #2 is not a game but an anime. In collaboration with Studio Pierrot, the author is Kodaka, and the character designer is Komatsuzaki. According to Famitsu, Project #2 will try to capture the feel of films like Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional.
Project #3 is said to be an action adventure game by Kodaka, Uchikoshi, and Nakazawa. The concept art shows school kids “playing the death game.” The overall theme sounds like it will be very wondrous.
Project #4 is the works of Kodaka, which he thought up before retiring Spike Chunsoft. Komatsuzaki will design the characters, Shimadoriru is behind the backgrounds, and Takada will compose the sound.
Hopefully, Too Kyo Games can stick to their motto of offering gamers and anime goers something “brand new” that’s refreshing. I’m not sure how these games and anime films or TV shows will pan out, but we’ll see sometime soon.
