R-Type Dimensions EX Runs 1080p On Switch, PC, Launches Nov 28th
R-Type Dimensions EX

Tozai Games and Irem announced that R-Type Dimensions EX is coming to the Nintendo Switch and on Steam as a bundle pack containing remastered versions of the original R-Type games from back in the 1980s. The upcoming title will launch on November 28th at the end of the month.

Tozai released a launch trailer to give gamers a look at the collection of R-Type and R-Type II that will be available with brand new updated 3D visual effects and graphics, along with the additional 2D retro mode and accompanying 2D retro music.

You can check out the launch trailer for the game below to see how it’s been updated.

As you can see, the game is a side-scrolling arcade shooter. It’s not quite as fast as the newer bullet-hell games that have been coming out lately for home consoles and PC, but it’s a nice little throwback to the kind of gameplay you may have enjoyed from the old coin-up machines.

Additionally, there will be the implementation of online rankings and leaderboards, all new slow-motion and fast-foward buttons, an infinite mode that allows you to take advantage of infinite lives, and both the 2D and 3D mode that plays out in native 1080p.

Smartly, Tozai Games decided to completely bypass the PlayStation 4. While it’s possible they could have garnered some okay sales from Sony’s system, there’s also the possibility that the ridiculous censorship policy may have also caught them somewhere off guard, like a hook on loose panties, or a glue-handed glove on lace underwear. With Sony, you can never really tell what’s going to screw you over.

Anyway, brand new achievements and a two-player cooperative mode have also been added to the game, so you and a buddy can have a go at it together. You’ll be able to pick up a digital copy of R-Type Dimensions EX from the Steam store or through the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch.
