Classic Dungeons and Dragons Games Are Coming To PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Fans of Dungeons & Dragons dungeon crawlers will be happy to know quite a few classic games in the genre are making a comeback, with a handful of enhanced collections set to hit consoles this fall.

According to an update from Skybound Games, the publisher is teaming up with Beamdog to bring a trio of D&D collection to the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

First up is The Bauldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, which includes the first two Baulder’s Gate games, as well as the Siege of Dragonspear expansion. This one will be ready to roll on Sept. 24 in North America and Sept. 27 in additional regions.

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition are included in the second collection, as well as all of their DLC. This one will also launch on Sept. 24 in North America and Sept. 27 elsewhere.

Finally, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition will include the game, all of its DLC, as well as cooperative and online multiplayer. Expect it Dec. 3 in North America and Dec. 6 everywhere else.

These games were originally developed by the teams at Black Isle Studios and BioWare, but it sounds like Beamdog will be giving them a modern facelift before sending them out into the wild.

The release states that players can expect native support for high-resolution widescreen displays, as well as controls that have been optimized for console. Some new standalone content will also be in the mix, as well as new characters and classes. Some new voice acting is also being done and you’ll have more options than ever during character creation. Also, expect improved multiplayer, some balance tweaks and a redesigned UI to help bring the games into the current generation of gaming.

Each game will likely have a digital launch, but they’ll also be coming in physical packages for $49.99 apiece. Also, this is making all of those Baulder’s Gate III rumors that have been circulating this past week seem even more likely. Maybe we’ll hear something official on that soon.
