Star War Jedi: Fallen Order Gets Gameplay Footage, Nov 15th Launch Date

EA kicked off its E3 presence in a big way this morning with an early livestream featuring nearly 15 minutes of gameplay from the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Feel free to take a look at the footage below and we’ll break things down a bit afterward. If you’re just looking for a launch date, then you can expect this latest single-player Star Wars game to drop on Nov. 15 for the PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

Fallen Order is set after the third Star Wars film in the chronology, Revenge of the Sith. Emperor Palpatine commands his forces to carry out Order 66, which is to hunt down and destroy all Jedi. As Fallen Order proves, not all of the Jedi were located. In the game, you take on the role of Cal Kestis, a Jedi who was trying to live under the radar until he got sucked into this whole struggle between light and dark.

As you can see in the gameplay footage, Cal will be accompanied by his trusty droid, BD-1. That little guy serves as your flashlight and can also be used to scan environmental objects and the like.

As promised, this is a straight single-player affair. You’ll have access to skill trees to gain new powers and make Cal stronger, with the gameplay itself looking like your standard third-person action fare. Cal has access to Jedi abilities such as pushing and pulling objects, but he can also freeze things in midair, like enemy fire.

And, of course, he’s got a lightsaber. It looks like the melee combat will be somewhere between God of War and Dark Souls, with counters and attacks needing to be carefully planned to get the upper hand on your enemies.

The gameplay footage shows Cal attempting to save a bunch of Wookie captives on their home planet of Kahyyyk, so it looks like he’ll be running odd jobs before getting sucked into what I can only assume will be a major plot within the Star Wars universe.
