Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Comes Under Fire Again For Devs’ Political Explanation

Despite Activision and Infinity Ward’s attempt to add in a diverse cast and please the ever screeching Social Justice types, as usual, it’s still not enough to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare off the journos’ naughty list. Well, after the recent GameInformer interview with campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff giving his take on politics and the game not taking sides, people have come out of the woodwork to know if the game is undergoing censorship, in which studio narrative director Taylor Kurosaki says “no”.

I’m not interested in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare due to past entries, its post-launch microtransactions, and current year diversity inclusion. More issues will likely surface as the first-person shooter’s release nears, but as it stands now Activision and Infinity Ward’s social justice disguised as centrism seems to be creating a lot of noise.

As mentioned above, after the GameInformer piece featuring Minkoff and Kurosaki, the usual suspects came out of the woods to express the same if not the exact same sentiments. Yes, Destructoid (archive.is), GamesIndustry (archive.is), Resetera (archive.is), and PCGamer (archive.is) all flung up pieces either rolling their eyes or not seeing eye to eye with Minkoff and Kurosaki.

Some of the above write-ups and comments are saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s “apolitical” stance is giving the “toxic, anti PC gamers and the alt-right” crowd a spotlight to spread “false information.”

In addition to the above, the opposite is happening where a Kotaku report (archive.is) claims the 2019 version of Modern Warfare will tone done segments in the game. Two Twitter users asked Kurosaki if the claims from leakers and the Kotaku piece are right, and his answers sit below:

For those excited thinking, “Yes, devs acting pro-consumer and telling those journo hacks to buzz off are finally getting it, I’ll pre-order.” My advice, don’t pre-order. Wait.

Lastly, we already know Modern Warfare 2019 will feature current year diversity, but we don’t know how extreme COD Points and microtransactions will be post-launch.
