If you’re attending GamesCom in Cologne, Germany between August 20th and August 24th, there will be a playable demo available at the Xbox One booth for Codemasters’ upcoming racing game, GRID.
The announcement comes from Codemasters, who revealed that they will be at the Microsoft Xbox booth in Hall 8. The demonstration will enable players to experience some of the AI driver personalities, which total 400.
The personalities are similar to the Drivatars from Forza Motorsport where players were able to race around the tracks in various cars, building up the AI personality for the Drivatar and then uploading the Drivatar online to allow others to compete and race against your AI-trained companion.
This was a very cool and innovative feat way back in 2006, and so we’re seeing a similar feature being implemented into GRID.
According to Chris Smith, GRID game director at Codemasters, he mentioned in the press release…
“We are so excited to bring our vision for dynamic motorsport racing to the gamescom community. I truly look forward to seeing all the players having fun with GRID and creating their own racing stories, I hope to see you there. “
We don’t know exactly how much of the game will be playable, but they will be showing off various bits and pieces of the game on the Xbox One. We do, however, get to briefly see what the demo will contain with the Gamescom 2019 trailer that you can check out below.
That doesn’t really give us much to go on, but we did see a lot more of the game from another recent gameplay demonstration that was put together by YouTuber GameRiot.
The 18 minute gameplay video gives you an exclusive look at some of the muscle cars in the game from the muscle car category.
This includes a look at the Ford Mustang Mach 1, the Plymouth Barracuda AAR, as well as the Dodge Challenger SRT.
You can check out the video below, which first showcases some of the muscle car selections and then gives you some actual racing. You can see how well the cars handle as well as what the physics are like for the high-torque metal chariots.
After you get a look at GRID at GamesCom 2019 in Cologne, Germany this August, you can then look for the game to launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 11th, 2019. Surprisingly, the game will be available on PC both digitally via Steam and physically on DVD. For more info feel free to visit the official GRID blog.
