The Matrix, in general, has influenced the video games industry. Games like Max Payne, F.E.A.R., and Warframe (among many more) all feature elements related to romancing the bullet — which, to be fair has been in media before the Matrix trilogy — but the films in question helped transcend dual-wielding, wall-running, slow motion, and the art of stylized shooting in the games space. Well, a fourth entry in the movie series is currently in the works according to the Wachowskis.
Catching wind from website screenrant.com, Warner Bros. Pictures is going forth with The Matrix 4. The upcoming movie will feature Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity).
Once known as the Wachowski brothers, then the Wachowskis, and now the Wachowski “sisters,” Lana Wachowski will continue to direct the fourth installment while Lilly Wachowski will assist writing and directing.
The Wachowskis will also have help from Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell. Production on The Matrix 4 is set to kick-off sometime in 2020, with Lana Wachowski saying:
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends”.
While Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures are in talks to get this movie going, it’s safe to say that this upcoming version will be a product of current year. And with Hollywood’s track record, get ready for propaganda and the usual agenda speak to flow through the film like a broken dam.
Lastly, website screenrant.com says Reeves’ recent popularity spurred Warner Bros. into action (for shekels of course) to bring at least some of the main actors and creatives from the original trilogy back for The Matrix 4. However, the website says Laurence Fishburne has not commented on whether he’ll reprise his role as Morpheus or come back at all.
So there’s that. The forth Matrix is in the works.
