House Of The Dead 1 And 2 Remakes Set To Launch In 2020

Sega and Polish publisher Forever Entertainment have teamed up together to remake and re-release the first two House of the Dead games. The platforms haven’t been defined at this point, but expect releases on major home consoles and on PC.

Sankaku Complex picked up the news from a Polish website called Graczpospolita, who managed to get word from Forever Entertainment that they were working with Sega and MegaPixel to produce the remakes of House of the Dead 1 and House of the Dead 2.

We don’t know what the remakes will be like other than that they will contain the core content from the originals, but likely with redone graphics, effects, and audio. I do wonder if they will keep the cheap-sounding dubbing or if they will opt to have more “professional” sounding voice actors brought in to elevate the experience.

I, personally, would prefer if they kept the old voice-acting. The cheap B-movie audio was what helped make the games feel… immersive.

While the platforms haven’t been disclosed yet, VideoGamer believes that the remakes could be Switch compliant given that the Panzer Dragoon Remake was made available on the Switch by Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio, so they’re of the mind that the duo might port House of the Dead 1 and 2 to the Switch as well. If they did I wouldn’t have any complaints.

I was never the biggest fan of the on-rails zombie shooter and always preferred Time Crisis instead since you could duck and dodge out of the way and it wasn’t just reliant on your trigger reflexes. Even still, the games were widely popular back when Sega hadn’t completely killed their brand making decisions a coke addict would, and it’s nice to see them getting the spotlight in today’s generation of gaming. Hopefully MegaPixel and Forever Entertainment avoid bringing any [current year] politics into the game, because that would completely ruin the experience.

As mentioned, the release date is still under wraps but the two games are tentatively scheduled to release at some point in 2020.
