Xbox Series X Single Fan Is Said To Be As Quiet As The Xbox One X

Whether you happen to call it the Xbox Series X, Series X, Xbox, XSX, or SX, the upcoming next-gen machine will be “quieter” with its single-fan than the current generation Xbox One X according to Phil Spencer.

Despite reports of the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X models sounding like you’re at an airport depending on what games you are playing or if you have a defective model, Spencer claims that the forthcoming Series X will be quieter than this edition of Xbox family of consoles.

In other words, when Q4 2020 rolls around, you shouldn’t hear noises equivalent to a PS4 Pro taking you to PlayStation’s airline as per website dualshockers.com.

According to the publication site, the head of Xbox explains that he’s been using the Series X at home and no one he invites over can tell that it’s on until he points it out due to the console’s “acoustic profile.”

“If I don’t point it out, it just sits there and plays video games the way I want it to and I never hear it, just like how I don’t hear my [Xbox One] X.”

Moreover, the website points out that the director of program management for the Xbox Team, Jason Ronald, is on the same page as Spencer. Ronald states the Series X is no louder than the Xbox One X when he’s gaming at home.

If you happen to be wondering what’s going into the Series X that keeps it silent, Spencer offers a small glimpse into the box by saying its cooling system can spin at a low enough rate that it’s “whisper-quiet.” Additionally, the next-gen system has no secondary fan if Spencer is to be trusted.

With that said, you can read what the head of Xbox has to say about this “single central fan” and the system’s cooling mechanism through the top grate right here:

“What this design does, with the size of the fan that we built around, is it lets us match how quiet the Xbox One X is with all that power inside of the box.”

Lastly, the Series X will release during the late part of Q4 2020.
