Avorion, Space Sandbox Game Graduates From Early Access

Boxelware’s long-awaited sandbox space simulator, Avorion, has finally graduated from Early Access after spending three years in the developmental cycle since January, 2017. The full game features everything that the indie team promised and then some, both with single-player and multiplayer support fully enabled and supported.

The game had targeted a March 9th release date and Boxelware held to it, releasing the game to a lot of positive feedback and support from the space-sim audience.

The game has managed to move more than 250,000 copies since releasing in Early Access, and that number will likely continue to go up as more people catch wind of Avorion, especially now that they know it’s a complete game.

As depicted in the launch trailer, Avorion sees players starting off as a small ship completing simple missions. You’ll need to take on delivery missions, escort missions, and mining quests to rack up some cash and upgrade your vessel.

There are tons of options and opportunities to play the game the way you want.

As they mention in the trailer, you can make your way through the galactic sandbox trading goods with other NPCs or players, or you can be a smuggler, moving stolen property through the merchant sectors.

If you have enough guts you can build a pirate ship and attack carriers and convoys to pilfer their goods, or you can attempt to be a force of good and prove to be a guardian of the galaxy.

If you have enough resources and time you can even develop a capital ship and have space fighters accompany you throughout your journeys, either terrorizing or helping the galaxy.

There are a ton of different ways to play, and a near limitless supply of customization options for your ship.

The game could best be described as StarMade meets Space Engineers, with a healthy slathering of EVE Online.

You can pick up a digital copy of Avorion right now from over on the Steam store for $19.99.
