Comiket 98 Cancelled Due To Coronavirus

Not every victim of Mistress Corona-chan is a victim worth mocking. There are some victims of the viral pandemic that has left fans thoroughly disappointed and sad. One such victim is the Comiket 98 event, which was originally scheduled to take place between May 2nd and May 5th, but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus.

The news was spotted by Anime Intelligence and Research and shared via a tweet on March 27th.

The tweet links to a story over on IT Media News, a Japanese site where they had a statement from the company that read…

“From the perspective of preventing the spread of the new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), we are very sorry, but we will cancel the event. It will be a month before the event, and we are very sorry. Thank you for your understanding.”

Comiket 98 is the latest event to join the ever-growing list of major conventions and concerts that had to be postponed or outright cancelled in light of the virus’ spread.

SXSW was hit earlier in the month, while the Taipei Game Show and Tokyo Olympics followed suit.

Corona-chan has proven that she’s indiscriminate in who she inflicts with her deadly charms, normies and otaku alike.

While Comiket 98 is a sad loss for those who wanted to go and congregate with their fellow weebs will have to put off such plans in lieu of more local fanfare due to the quarantine.

It looks like this is how things are going to be for the foreseeable future, but there’s no real telling exactly how long this will last.

Technically, this could be the new normal, and if that’s the case the normies and the Social Justice degenerates are getting hit a lot harder than nerd culture, and I have no qualms about that.
