TwitchCon Cancelled Due To Coronavirus

Yet another convention has been hit by the deadly kiss of Corona-chan. While YouTube is working overtime to bury the news and hide any mention of the virus, major events and event holders are desperately trying to adapt to the rapidly changing climate that’s becoming increasingly dangerous. The latest event to fold under is TwitchCon, which announced that the event that was supposed to be held in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, has been cancelled.

The news comes courtesy of a tweet that was published on the official TwitrchCon Twitter account on March 6th, 2020.

Over on the official TwitchCon website they go into detail about the cancellation and refunds, writing…

“We have been monitoring Coronavirus concerns and having weighed the potential health risks to our community we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel TwitchCon Amsterdam.

“TwitchCon is the best weekend to be a Twitch fan. To say we’re disappointed you won’t be able to enjoy the show we’ve been building for you is a massive understatement. But the health and safety of our community, employees, and everyone else who has a part in making TwitchCon happen is, as always, our top priority.”

They also further explain that anyone who purchased a ticket to TwitchCon will be refunded the full amount. If you request a refund now they state that you will receive it no later than March 20th, 2020.

The event was originally scheduled to take place between May 2nd and May 3rd in 2020, but due to the poor quarantining and security surrounding the spread of the coronavirus, Twitch decided it was best to simply cancel the event.

Expect more public events to close up shop throughout the year as more victims of the virus add to the ever-growing list of the infected.
