For me, there is a special significance to the original Crysis. When I had my first gaming PC built there was but one requirement: Make it be able to run Crysis on max settings with ease. In the long run, that computer would devolve into a nightmare, but the time spent on the original Crysis was still worth it.
For that reason when Crytek devolved the series into a generic science-fiction FPS it was beyond disappointing. Gone was the game that showcased its awesome new physics engine by detonating an atomic bomb and in its place was a game with an absurd story filled with generic enemies that you fight in increasingly linear levels. In short, the series became as boring as it was uninspiring.
For awhile rumors have been circulating regarding Crytek’s return to the franchise with an unconfirmed fourth entry in the series. These rumors mostly consist of job listings and teases that pointed more to a remake than a new release.
Regardless of whether a fourth entry is in development or not, the company has now accidentally leaked the remaster of the original game for the PS4, PC, Xbox One, and even the Switch.
