Destroy All Humans Remake Release Date Set For July 28th

Destroy All Humans

It’s funny that THQ Nordic managed to get their hands on THQ’s originally published games such as Destroy All Humans. The company has proceeded to re-release various original IP from the old THQ’s stash for current generation consoles, which includes a remade version of the third-person, alien invasion shooter.

THQ Nordic recently tossed up a brand new gameplay trailer that’s only barely over a minute long but it reveals that the release date for the sixth-gen remake is set for July 28th on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

You can check out the trailer below.

The trailer briefly combs through some of the weapons and mechanics of the Destroy All Humans remake, which features the ability to disguise oneself as an Earthling so you can engage in subterfuge while calmly exclaiming “Hello, fellow human!”, along with the ability to hop into the saucer and raze small towns to the ground.

The gameplay in the remake looks like it’s mostly intact from when it first released on the PS2 and OG Xbox, but games released in [current year] have a tendency of simplifying or dumbing down mechanics for “accessibility” purposes, so be on the lookout to see if Black Forest Games skimped on certain features or culled certain kinds of content that the Cornhole Commisars might consider to be “problematic” in [current year].

Personally, I didn’t really think that Destroy All Humans was the sort of game that even needed a remake. It was a game of its age and it still visually holds up to this day thanks to it quirky visuals, modest use of shaders, and having a stylistic 3D presentation based on 1950s vintage pop art.

It’s not the greatest game from that era, but it seemed like it would have been better served simply making the game backwards compatible rather than remaking it from the ground up. But whatever.

You can look for the remake of Destroy All Humans to land on PS4, Xbox One and PC starting July 28th. The game is available for pre-order and comes with some skin packs, but you all know the rule about pre-ordering, right?
